Five takeaways from the 2019 CMCX

100+ speakers, 5,000 visitors and the top 5 things I learned at the CMCx in Munich

As an eager first-timer at this year’s CMCx in Munich, I arrived keen to take away as much as I could from this two-day event. As such, I ended up attending almost 20 talks from some of the biggest names in content marketing.

Sources generally agree that content is one of the most effective ways to promote a business. Statistics from the CMI, for example, show that 91% of B2B marketers use content marketing to reach customers. Global revenue from content marketing services is projected to top USD 50 billion in 2019 – that’s almost double the figure reached in 2014! It’s no wonder then that the CMCx is such a hot ticket in the content marketing calendar! And you really feel it when you are there. After two jam-packed days listening to the speakers, chatting with other guests and just generally soaking up the atmosphere, these are my top 5 takeaways from the CMCx:

  1. Know your audience
  2. Be authentic
  3. Be relevant
  4. Believe in what you create
  5. Have fun

Among the industry insights, expert exhibits and a fair bit of buzzword bingo, it was these five points which I kept hearing again and again. Arguably, there is nothing new here, but how many of us can really say we tick all five of these boxes 100 per cent of the time when producing content for our respective platforms? Here at Statista Content Marketing and Information Design, we think we’ve found a pretty unique way of making sure we do. We combine desk research, editorial work and bespoke design to deliver custom content in your brand’s look and feel. And, over 250 projects later, we’re still having fun doing it.
